An anonymous reader writes “The UK Ministry of Defence has been left with php developer egg on its face, after a supposedly redacted PDF detailing secrets related to air defence radar systems was published on a parliamentary website. The problem? Whoever did the redacting simply changed the sensitive text to black php developer on a black background, making it possible for anyone to access the information simply by cutting-and-pasting. The incident is particularly embarrassing for the Ministry, as six months ago precisely the same security screw-up occurred — that time related to sensitive information about nuclear submarines.” 50 of 74 comments loaded it military security Related Links Tweet Previous story: Tablet Makers Try To Beat iPad’s $500 Pricetag Submission: Secrets leak as MOD fails to philippines redact PDF properly Incomplete PDF Redaction Leaks Data From UK MoD

24531380 story Nexus Prime, And Ice Cream Sandwich, Go For a Video Tour 131 Posted by timothy on Sunday October 09, @03:40PM from the slightly-different dept. An anonymous reader writes with this snippet from Examiner.com, citing a report at gagdet.ro, about Samsung’s upcoming high-end Nexus Prime, the first phone to be delivered software with Ice Cream Sandwich. “This version of the Nexus Series (Google’s Android flag bearer) runs the next version of Android: Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This version is meant to combine Honycomb (Android 3.0) with Gingerbread(Android 2.3) into one OS, that will run on all devices. In addition to the merger of development the two OS’s, it also changes the Android UI a bit. One major change, is that the icons and the UI is a lot more sophisticated and clean, making even iOS look old and clunky. Also, it removes the requirement for Android phones to have hard/soft-hard mixed buttons, in favor of allowing manufacturers to use whichever type of button they wish. Also, it adds a soft button on the lock screen, to go straight to the camera app.” 50 of 131 comments loaded google gui handheld Related Links Tweet Previous story: iPhone 4S Pre-Orders Sell Out Submission: Samsung Nexus Prime goes for a video philippines tour, along w Nexus Prime, And Ice Cream Sandwich, Go For a Video Tour

An anonymous reader writes “As a senior developer for a small IT company based in the UK that is about php to release their flagship project, I know that if I were to leave the company now, it would cause them some very big problems. I’m currently training the other two ‘junior’ developers, trying to bring them up to speed with our products. Unfortunately, they developer are still a long way from grasping the technologies used – not to mention the ‘interesting’ job the outsourced developers managed to make of the code. Usually, I would never have considered leaving at such a crucial time; I’ve been at the company for several years and consider many of my colleagues, including higher management, to be friends. However, I have been approached by another company that is much bigger, and they have offered me a pay rise of £7k to do the same job, plus their office php is practically outside my front door (as opposed to my current 45 minute commute each way). This would make a massive difference to my life. That said, I can’t help but feel that to leave now would be betraying my friends and colleagues. Some friends have told me that I’m just being ‘soft’ – however I think I’m being loyal. Any advice?” 50 of 253 comments loaded business it developers Related Links Tweet Previous story: FCC Wants To Shift Phone Subsidy Funds To Broadband Submission: does being ‘loyal’ pay as a developer?
